Matichuk Insights is led by Graeme Matichuk, a library lover, architectural designer, community engagement specialist, and accessibility advocate. Born in St. Albert and now based in Edmonton, Graeme has built a 360-degree perspective on public libraries over 15 years. His experience spans working as a library staff member, a library advocate and volunteer, and a consultant designing facilities and leading strategic planning.

Graeme is a lifelong accessibility advocate and has the following certifications and memberships:

Currently, he works as a public and stakeholder engagement advisor in a large municipality, advising public servants on best practices for community engagement, strategic planning, analysis, and reporting.

Graeme has worked with many public libraries, including:

  • Vermilion Public Library
  • Edmonton Public Library
  • St. Albert Public Library
  • Edson & District Public Library
  • Spruce Grove Public Library
  • Chestermere Municipal Library
  • Devon Public Library
  • Bibliothèque de Beaumont Library

His library advocacy has connected him with over a dozen libraries worldwide, exploring best practices in volunteer mobilization and library advocacy. He has attended the Ontario Library Superconference, the Alberta Library Conference, and the Stronger Together Library Conference, published articles on public libraries, and maintains a global awareness of library trends. In 2025, Graeme presented a session on Friends of the Library revitalization at Alberta’s Stronger Together Library Conference to over 100 attendees.

With over seven years of experience in facilitation and engagement strategy, Graeme believes thoughtful questions, relationship-building, and effective engagement strategies reveal a community’s true needs.

In his work, he challenges the conventions of community engagement that often prioritize privileged and settler voices, and he invites marginalized peoples into the decision-making process. He has developed a signature facilitation style – welcoming, considerate, and insightful – getting to the heart of what matters and unveiling patterns and unexpected insights.

Graeme is a proud alumnus of Queen’s University and NAIT.
